958P Colt SAA, 44/40, Etch Panel, 1879, Letter Belt & Holster
Description
958P Colt Single Action Army, 7 1/2 inch, cal. 44/40, wood grips, SN 51XX. The Colt letter states shipped 7-15-1879 to H & D Folsom Arms Co. NY with 9 others. This is one of those neat ole 44s that has lots or character and I wish it could talk as I am sure it could tell some stories. Whoever wore it was proud of it. It came with a time period belt and Slim-Jim holster. It has all matching serial numbers including the grips, barrel and cylinder. The etch panel is all readable, 70%+ remaining. The action is correct and tight, the bore has good rifling and is a shiny 8. The 3-line Patent dates and barrel address are clear and readable. It has a modified 1st model ejector housing, a flared ejector head and all the screws are in good condition. Overall the metal is smooth with very light salt and pepper pin pricking on the left side and front end of the barrel. The nickel finish remaining is 40% the correct hammer has light case colors. The serialized grips have a star with a heart on each side on the left panel. The right panel has tiny holes where they were at one time. These decorative metal designs appear to be made of silver. The original to the gun walnut grips fit like a glove and have no chips. The fancy grip designs along with the time period rig made a nice outfit in the 1880s. The time period Slim-Jim holster also has 3 dime size decorative nickel brads along the top front edge. The holster has not been modified, has the original stitched belt loop on the back, the seem stitching is all intact and made without a plug. The cartridge belt has a riveted metal carry ring for a knife, hand-cuffs or the like. It appears to be the age of the holster and fits a 32 inch waist.
The price includes the belt and holster
